ASC CODE OF ETHICS

The membership of the American Society of Criminology has voted to approve the proposed Code of Ethics.

This document will now be added to the Society’s Policy and Procedures manual, and will be posted on the ASC webpage as our official Code of Ethics.

CONSTITUTION OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CRIMINOLOGY

The American Society of Criminology policies and operations are impacted by four governing documents:

  1. Constitution - Changes must first be approved by a majority of the Executive Board, or alternatively, by five (5) percent of the members of the Society, and then must be affirmed by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of those members who cast a ballot in the subsequent ratification/election process.

  2. By-Laws - Requires a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Executive Board in each of two (2) consecutive Board Meetings. There are typically three (3) Board Meetings held each year; late April, the Tuesday before the Annual Meeting, and the Saturday of the Annual Meeting.

  3. Policies - Requires a majority vote of the Executive Board.

  4. Practices - Operational procedures and practices of the Society officers and staff.
