| Students who study criminology and related fields are preparing themselves for careers in fields where leadership opportunities will be thrust upon them whether or not those opportunities are welcomed or sought after. it is essential that academic programs provide them with the opportunities to have the foundational skills and knowledge to prepare them to step up and welcome these roles in an effective and meaningful manner. Students should be provided basic information in the areas of social psychology of groups, organizational behavior, leadership styles, time management and other leadership and management basics to equip them to function in the world beyond academia. Course work and service learning opportunities can and shoukld be provided to students to provide them with this basic knowledge. This roundtable will discuss ways in which course work, service activities, and co-curricular activities can be employed to achieve this goal. | |||
