| In a qualitative study of twenty adult ex-offenders, all having served
lengthy sentences for serious crimes, the authors found that the parollees
relationahip with their parole officers often plays a significant role in
their adjustment to the community and taht the relationship is highly
influenced by the clients expectations and perceptions of their PO. Those
who reintegrated into the community were compared with individualls who
either committed new crimes or violated the conditions of their parole.
