Keynote Speaker

 

Janelle Doughty is the Director of the Department of Justice & Regulatory for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in Ignacio, Colorado. In her current position Ms. Doughty is responsible for the management of the Southern Ute Tribal Police Department, Southern Ute Detention Center, Division of Gaming, Natural Resource Enforcement (Rangers), Tribal Prosecutor, Tribal Public Defender, Environmental Program, TERO (Tribal Employment Office), and Ethics Committee in order to fulfill various regulatory functions. Ms. Doughty completed her undergraduate work at the New Mexico Highlands University and received a Master Social Work degree from the University of Denver in 2004. Ms. Doughty is also an enrolled Southern Ute Tribal member and ½ Navajo from the Red Running into the Water Clan; a certified police officer, graduate of Leadership La Plata, American Marshall Memorial Fellow alumni and a presenter on topics related to justice, regulatory and social issues.
