DPCC ANNUAL AWARDS

Julius Debro, 2005 DPCC Annual Luncheon Keynote Speaker

The Division on People of Color and Crime
presents three awards for outstanding contributions to our field
at the annual meetings of the American Society of Criminology.

The Julius Debro Award recognizes professional members of the Division who have made outstanding contributions in service to professional organizations, academic institutions, or the advancement of criminal justice.

The Coramae Richey Mann Award recognizes professional members of the Division who have made outstanding contributions of scholarship on race/ethnicity, crime, and justice.

The Outstanding Student Award recognizes outstanding student research on race/ethnicity, crime, and justice.

2007 Awards

Dr. Vernetta Young of Howard University, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, is the recipient of the 2007 Julius Debro Award.

Dr. Ramiro Martinez, Jr. of Florida InternationalUniversity, School of Criminal Justice, is a recipient of the2007 Coramae Richey Mann Award.

Dr. Katheryn Russell-Brown of the University of Florida, Levin College of Law and the Center for the Study of Race and Race Relations, is also a recipient of the2007 Coramae Richey Mann Award.

**No award was given in 2007 for the Outstanding Student Award.

2006 Awards

Drs. Lauren Krivo and Ruth Peterson are co-recipients of the 2006 Julius Debro Award, in recognition of their principal role in the creation and leadership of the Racial Democracy, Crime, and Criminal Justice Research Network over the past few years, and succesful summer internship for junior scholars at Ohio State this past Summer (2006) , among other organizing efforts.

Dr. Eric Stewart of the University of Missouri-St. Louis was selected as the 2006 Coramae Richey Mann Award winner for his impressive grantsmanship and scholarship related to the empirical investigation of Elijah Anderson's "code of the street" thesis.

**No award was given in 2006 for the Outstanding Student Award.
