2012 Student Paper Award Recipient

Kimberly Kras is a doctoral student at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (2003) and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology (2005), both from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her research interests include corrections, offender re-entry, issues pertaining to sex offenders, and mixed methods. The present paper, “Social Support for Sex Offenders: How Does Social Support Impact the Success or Failure of Sex Offenders Returning to the Community?”, examines sources of social support for sex offenders and impacts on violations of supervision and reimprisonment. This research takes a mixed methods approach and is framed by Cullen’s (1994) social support paradigm.
